About Us
Ian Hearney fine jewelry is made with intention and crafted one piece at a time. We believe that jewelry is not, and never has been a financial investment, but rather an emotional one. Everything we sell is an heirloom in the making, created to last a lifetime and then some.
Quality
Our fine jewelry is only cast in solid metals, meaning we use 14k and 18k gold and solid sterling silver. We never use gold plated or gold-filled alloys as these are not suitable for daily wear and only tend to last a few years at most. Our gemstones are laboratory grown and share the same chemical, physical, and optical properties as their natural counterparts. We primarily utilize untreated laboratory grown sapphires and diamonds in a wide range of hues, but may come to use laboratory grown emerald, spinel, opal and more. If you are ever confused as to what each material used is, please feel free to reach out to us as we would be more than happy to explain and go into detail.
Craftsmanship
Each one our solid gold pieces is made to order and may take up to 6-12 weeks to be fully finished. We greatly appreciate your patience to make jewelry as we believe it should be made, slowly, and all finished by master artisans. Each piece starts out as a CAD (computer aided design) drawing and is then turned into a wax casting. They are then cast into solid gold and completed by hand; polishing and setting each piece to perfection. We know this may seem like a long time to wait for your piece but trust us it is more than worth the wait!
Why lab grown?
We chose to use laboratory grown stones because of their quality and their innate ability to not have to be mined with child or forced labor, poor working conditions, and unfair pay. Our laboratory grown stones are a greener alternative to naturally mined stones, while still maintaining all the same chemical and physical characteristics of their natural counterparts. The majority of laboratory grown stones on the market do not look luxurious due to their cut, that is why we remedied this by custom cutting each and every one of our sapphires by hand. We take attention to detail very seriously and never cut any corners when making a piece of jewelry.
