Care

How do I care for my Ian Hearney fine jewelry?

This is fine jewelry, so taking the proper precautions can help to ensure a lifetime of wear. We always recommend to air on the side of caution to preserve your pieces.

Sleeping with jewelry

We recommend removing all your pieces before bed and storing them separately in a jewelry box, dish, or the complimentary pouch provided to prevent unnecessary damage. Be sure to separate diamonds from colored gemstones and pearls as diamonds can scratch these materials.

Swimming and Going to the beach

Never swim or go into chlorinated water with your jewelry as the chemicals may permanently discolor the metal, and damage colored gemstones. Remove jewelry when going to the beach as the sand can scratch the gold and certain gemstones; while the cold water of the ocean can cause your fingers to shrink allowing a ring to slip off and be lost in the ocean forever.

Working out

Always remove your rings, and bracelets when lifting weights or moving heavy items as the impact can distort the shape of the band of your ring. We recommend as a rule of thumb to remove your jewelry when working out or hiking, or any activity that could potentially put undue impact or abrasion to your pieces.

Anything else I should know?

We recommend following the last on, first off rule when wearing your jewelry and getting ready. Always put the jewelry on last when getting ready and taking it off first when getting home.

Avoid contact with beauty products, household chemicals, and extreme temperatures as these can damage your jewelry items.

To clean your pieces, use a couple drops of mild dish soap and warm water. Gently clean with a soft toothbrush to clean in between all the hard-to-reach places and small crevices.
