The Wave ring is what dreams are made of; perfectly blending whimsy and sophistication. Crafted in 14k gold and centering around a custom, hand cut, laboratory grown, Paraiba sapphire this ring has so many signature elements to the Ian Hearney brand. The laboratory grown sapphire is secured with our custom kite-style prongs highlighted with a rope twist detailing around them. The laboratory sapphire is then framed with a rope twist halo and all set on top of our wave band. As the name would imply, the band has an artistic wave style to it set with colorless, pave, laboratory grown diamonds and encased with more rope textured detailing. Ian Hearney rings are built to last and be family heirlooms, so we leave the back of the ring plain in the event that it needs to be resized in the future if necessary.

In nature, Paraiba material gemstones refer to a specific type of tourmaline. At this time there are no laboratory grown tourmalines on the market, so at Ian Hearney fine jewelry we use untreated, laboratory grown sapphire in the color of a Paraiba tourmaline. So, while this may not have the same chemical and physical properties as natural Paraiba tourmaline, it does have the same chemical and physical properties as natural sapphire which is a harder, and more durable gemstone than tourmaline.

What does F color, VS1 clarity laboratory grown diamonds mean? Laboratory grown diamonds share the same chemical, physical, and optical properties of their natural counterparts. F color grading means the diamonds are colorless and VS1 clarity means the diamonds are very slightly included. This grading of diamonds is luxurious and reserved for the finest diamond brands.

Can be crafted in white or rose gold upon request. Additionally, we can also provide an additional bid to be cast in 18k gold. If you love this style but would prefer a different color sapphire, we can custom cut a stone to your preference.

Why lab grown?

We chose to use laboratory grown stones because of their quality and their innate ability to not have to be mined with child or forced labor, poor working conditions, and unfair pay. Our laboratory grown stones are a greener alternative to naturally mined stones, while still maintaining all the same chemical and physical characteristics of their natural counterparts. The majority of laboratory grown stones on the market do not look luxurious due to their cut, that is why we remedied this by custom cutting each and every one of our sapphires by hand. We take attention to detail very seriously and never cut any corners when making a piece of jewelry.
